Fellow Waubeekans,

To say it’s been a tough and trying year is an understatement!

I know some of our residents have either personally faced medical issues or know someone who has. In addition, the economic downturn and impact on jobs lost are pervasive throughout our Country, State, and Community.

I am hoping that we remain on the downside of the Covid-19 curve and like everyone else, await what the new normal will be for all of us.

Our community has become a safe haven for many, and I am grateful to the majority of homeowners, renters, and guests that have been vigilant in maintaining social distancing and other CDC protocols.

At this point, I am uncertain what this summer will bring but ask everyone to continue following the appropriate guidelines and use common sense.

As a further precautionary measure, LWA will be limiting meetings and entertainment at our Community House and Beaches.

Our Beaches will remain open but ask:

  • Families and friends that do not live together, stay 6’ apart.
  • Do not congregate in groups.
  • Postpone any private party events.

We rely on everyone’s cooperation in practicing social distancing at our beaches and ask that all Waubeekans work out any issues with your neighbors while being courteous and respectful with each other.  The LWA Board will not be managing social distancing compliance concerns throughout our community.

On other related news, we are working on implementing an electronic voting system that we had previously used to help elect new Board members in July and any other community-related business.

More information on that process will be communicated once we have the green light from our Legal Counsel.

There are 4 Board positions that are up in July and ask that anyone who is interested in running, obtain the petition from Pat King, our Recording Secretary and return it to her – pataking@sbcglobal.net

We are always looking for dedicated homeowners who are willing to give both their time and relevant past experience to help manage this great community of ours.

As of now, I am not sure how we will be conducting our LWA Annual Meeting and will be discussing our options at our next monthly Board meeting which is scheduled for 5/14 via conference call.

The Board will also be discussing when to open our newly modified Dog Park and status on the children’s playground

In the meantime, stay safe, continue to practice social distancing, and look out for each other!

Arthur
