Dear Fellow Waubeekans,

I wasn’t planning on sending out any communications regarding the Coronavirus since I’m sure we’re all on overload at this point.

As we try to adapt to our new reality and doing our best to avoid social contact and spread of the virus, we need to be extremely vigilant especially for our residents that have recently taken temporary residence at the Lake from NYC.

As I have been walking around the community it’s great to see everyone practicing social distancing including your pets. Although, some Waubeekans have always kept a distance from me!

Based on the latest directive from The White House coronavirus task force, citing concern about the high infection rate in the New York City area, is asking everyone who has left the NYC area recently to self-isolate for 14 days, wherever they are.

We ask that everyone avoid any gatherings, keep your distance from others and if you’re not feeling well, please self-quarantine!

The Board also suggests avoid inviting relatives and friends from the identified hotspot areas until this passes. If you do have guests from these locations, you should quarantine.

If anyone needs help with groceries, prescription drugs, etc, Josh Isaacson has put together a list of volunteers that can help. The Nextdoor site is another place to get in touch with neighbors who might need assistance.

In addition,  Richard Hastings has set up a food pantry of non-perishables for any of our residents to use at our Main / Post Rd beach.

It’s a very trying time for everyone and we’re lucky to live in such a beautiful place while we wait out this pandemic.

Continue to use common sense, avoid touching shared areas such as playground and ballfield equipment and keep washing your hands.

If anyone has any other concerns, please feel free to reach out to me directly.

Together we can weather this storm by looking out for each other.

Best

Arthur
