Dear Neighbor,

Welcome to Lake Waubeeka! You haven’t simply bought a home… you’ve also bought into a very special community.

Over 65 years ago, a group of New York City firefighters created the Lake Waubeeka Community as a summer getaway for their families. Since then, it has grown and evolved into a year-round residential community of over 260 homes, surrounded by 550 acres of undeveloped woodlands which include a beautiful 36-acre lake. We welcome you to our community.

Our lake is carefully protected and monitored to protect its pristine beauty. Its clean water is great for swimming, boating or just relaxing. It’s not unusual to surprise a resident heron as you kayak around the lake. You can enjoy excellent fishing for bass, pickerel and perch.

The two beaches are places where neighbors congregate to enjoy the views, relax, swim, play a game of cards or meet their new neighbors. During the summer, yoga classes are held most weekend mornings on the beach.

The community boasts a wonderful outdoor athletic area, including a softball field and jogging track as well as tennis, basketball and paddleball courts. Young children can enjoy their own enclosed playground nearby. If you’re interested in something more secluded, a hike to Beaver Pond is a favorite.

Lake Waubeeka’s Community House serves as the hub of neighborhood activities. Parties, community meetings, art shows, winter yoga classes, dances and concerts are held here from Spring through Fall.

The “business” side of our community has much to offer. We supply our community with water from two underground wells. A full-time maintenance crew ensures that the beaches and community grounds are well maintained and the roads plowed during the winter. A multi-year project to replace all the original water pipes was completed in 2016. The electronic access control gates at our entrance help protect our lake and our community. Garbage and recyclables are picked up year round.

We urge you to take full advantage of everything that Lake Waubeeka has to offer. To learn more about our community, we encourage you to explore this website. Our Rules, By-laws, and the Declaration which is part of your deed are all there—as well as in your Welcome Packet. You’ll also find a history of the community (link to come) with vintage photos of what it looked like from the beginning, and as it grew.

Again, welcome. We hope you enjoy your new home, and your community!

Sincerely,

The Board of Directors
Lake Waubeeka Association
